The cultural heritage of Saint-Aulaye

Our campsite with swimming pool in Saint-Aulaye is located on the banks of the Dronne. Take the D38 which spans the river and you will arrive at the town. You will quickly notice, letting your gaze scan the horizon, that the town is made up of many hamlets. As you approach the town centre, you will see the ramparts rising up in front of you. Place to discover the local heritage by starting your visits with the Romanesque church of Sainte-Eulalie, classified as a historical monument. Saint-Aulaye is also home to a castle, a pastel museum and a cognac museum. Twice a year, at the end of spring (end of April-beginning of May) and in September, the town is animated by the traditional Latière fair, the origin of which dates back to the Middle Ages. This vast popular brocante which attracts visitors from different parts of New Aquitaine is held in the hamlet of La Latière, in the forest of La Double.

Natural areas of Saint-Aulaye

The Double forest is a great playground for hikers and mountain bikers who want to spend sporting holidays in our Périgord Vert campsite. This green lung of 50,000 hectares extends over 40 km for a width of 20 km, and is classified as a Natura 2000 site. The discovery circuit of the bastide town of Saint-Aulaye, a 3 km loop in and around the medieval city, is one of the 10 most beautiful trails in Périgord.

You will also find in Saint-Aulaye a sandy beach on the banks of the Dronne, very valuable in high season for safe swimming. Check with the town hall or the tourist office to find out the areas where fishing is authorized.
