An architectural heritage

Situated between Saint-Aulaye and Ribérac, Saint-Privat-des-Prés is a Périgord Vert village with a rich historical heritage. Its jewel is the 11th-centuryfortified Romanesque church, listed as a historic monument. The church’s distinctive Saintonge-style facade features an arched portal, sculpted modillions and a square bell tower. Inside, the church features a barrel-vaulted nave, narrow side aisles with carved capitals, 17th- and 18th-century altarpieces and a remarkable baptismal font.

The village is also home to Château de la Mothe, a 14th-century fortified house that was remodeled in the 17th century. Surrounded by a moat, the château comprises a central building flanked by two side pavilions, and is now converted into gîtes.
