Situated between Saint-Aulaye and Ribérac, Saint-Privat-des-Prés is a Périgord Vert village with a rich historical heritage. Its jewel is the 11th-centuryfortified Romanesque church, listed as a historic monument. The church’s distinctive Saintonge-style facade features an arched portal, sculpted modillions and a square bell tower. Inside, the church features a barrel-vaulted nave, narrow side aisles with carved capitals, 17th- and 18th-century altarpieces and a remarkable baptismal font.
The village is also home to Château de la Mothe, a 14th-century fortified house that was remodeled in the 17th century. Surrounded by a moat, the château comprises a central building flanked by two side pavilions, and is now converted into gîtes.

For lovers of tradition, the Musée de l’Outil et de la Vie au Village, created in 1982, offers a glimpse into the daily lives of Périgord inhabitants in days gone by. On display are collections of antique tools, reconstructions of traditional craft workshops and a period classroom.
Nearby, the miniature heritage museum displays 1/100 scale models of castles and cathedrals, offering a unique perspective on regional architecture.
