However, being situated on the banks of the River Dronne, in the event of a heatwave, temperatures are automatically lower than elsewhere. In the event of heavy rain, however, there are plenty of things to do and places to discover.

Shaded, near the Dronne river, the local microclimate means you’ll enjoy a pleasant vacation, even if the thermometer goes over the limit. The beach, just 100 m from the campsite, offers an alternative to the warmth of the heated swimming pool, with its cool, lively water. The Poltrot leisure park is also an excellent option, with a children’s trail, a signposted tour of local wildlife and a plant maze.
Finally, the air-conditioned Saint-Aulaye cinema can also cool you down for a session.

What to do when it rains at camping La Dordogne Verte
It’s not always easy to find something to do when it’s raining when you’re camping. There are, however, a number of sheltered outings right next to the campsite. For example, there’s the Musée du Cognac et du Vin, right here in Saint-Aulaye, which offers tours from 2:30 to 6:30 pm during the summer vacations, Tuesday to Saturday.

Saint-Aulaye also boasts a Pastel Museum, and the village regularly hosts the internationally renowned Salon du Pastel. Here you can discover a permanent exhibition, as well as temporary exhibitions of world-famous works. The museum is open from 2.30pm to 6.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday during the summer months.
