In the Saint-Aulaye area, there are 4 2nd category rivers: the Dronne, the Rizonne, the Moudelou and the Ribouloir, where you can fish with natural bait, cast or carp.

A little further afield, you’ll also find the Dordogne, Vézère and
l’Auvézère, which are classed in 2nd category for catching whitefish and carnivorous fish.

If you prefer to fish for salmonids (trout), the Dronne and L’isle are also classed in 1st category.

For those who prefer the languor of ponds to whitewater, the region abounds in 1st and 2nd category ponds.

The large étang de la Jemaye, for example, is an excellent choice if you want to spend some family time together.

Reminder of fishing regulations

To have the right to fish with lines in a river or body of water that communicates, even discontinuously, with open water, you must join an Association Agréée pour la Pêche et la Protection du Milieu Aquatique (AAPPMA) and pay the Cotisation Pêche et Milieux Aquatiques (CPMA), except for “discovery” cards for under-12s.
